Moto

About a month ago I had family in from St Louis and my dad took us all to a restaurant called Moto in celebration of my grandparents' anniversary. It was a very sophisticated and clever menu and the food tasted great, for the most part. Their style of cooking is generally referred to as molecular gastronomy, which means they use things like liquid nitrogen and other scientific techniques in their dishes. There's also a sense of playfulness with the food. We only took one picture, as photography was frowned upon, but this shot of our edible menu does a good job of summing up what we were about to get into. Click on it to get a close up view of the writing. It actually tasted amazing.

We opted for the 1o course meal. There were a couple dishes that I'll always remember for their insane creativity and amazing taste. I wasn't the best meal I've ever had (that would be Alinea), but it was pretty special. Hannah came along, and did well meeting parents and grandparents and siblings.

During the meal, my brother Nick and I talked about how cool it is to have parents that are into this sort of thing and can afford to share it with us. I'm a happy and stable individual these days, but I don't have much spare cash to toss around. Nights like this remind me of the amazingly fortunate upbring I had. Cheers to you mom and dad!

The only time I am sad you have a real girlfriend is when I miss out on dinners like this as the substitue. Lucky Hannah...
